Yes, this news from "The Future". Are you scared?

Turns out we won't know our room number at the Sheraton until we check in on Friday afternoon. The plan is to post our room number here as soon as we know it.

We'll be around the hotel all weekend. We'll leave a notepad on the door if we leave so you will know where to find us, and can leave a note if you want. We'll plan to hang around the room Saturday night after 7pm. Beyond that, we're gonna play it by ear.

The Sheraton is at the intersection of Highway 100 and 494.

This thing is happening. Doug and I have booked two rooms at the Sheraton for Friday/Saturday/Sunday, April 6-8. We both have Friday thru Monday off work.

We've got movies, TV, and music galore loaded onto our iPod. The stupid Sheraton disables the jacks on their TVs so we have to bring a Commodore Color Monitor, but that's kinda in the spirit of this reunion anyway, I guess. We've got games and eggs to dye. We're bringing some cereal, sandwiches, some beer, drinks, and maybe jello shots (provided I get my act together).

The question is, WILL YOU BE THERE?

I booked two rooms (one for me & Doug, one for a place to hang out) at the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel, Minneapolis South for April 6, 7, 8 Friday/Saturday/Sunday (800-325-3535). Sunday morning checkout would be 12:00pm. That seemed kinda rushed if anyone wanted to hang out so I got that night just in case. I can always cancel a night, depending on how this thing evolves.

Doug and I will plan to hang out at the hotel Saturday night from 4:00pm until whenever. That will give people just stopping by a smaller window to aim for in hopes of seeing the most people.

I was also thinking that it might be fun to get a few people to go out for dinner somewhere interesting on Friday night, and/or brunch Sunday morning. It's Easter Sunday, so we might have to plan a bit and make reservations in advance.

  Downside: Rooms may fill up. Reserve early, if you want a room.

  Upside: Every room has a private bedroom and a separate living room. That would be very convenient for congregating. My gut feel is that place would be more likely to have availability than the Sheraton/Minicon, but I don't know for sure.
  Downside: You'd need a car to get to Minicon.
• Sofitel
  (952-835-1900)
  $119/night
  Well, there's not a whole lot going for this place. It's right next-door to Minicon but that's about it for the advatages of staying there.
• Water Park of America at the Grand Lodge
  (877-757-5433)
  $269/night
  EXPENSIVE! And that's the CHEAPEST room they have!

Minicon 42 is being held April 6-8, 2007 (Easter Weekend) at the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel in Bloomington, Minnesota. I was thinking that we could get some people together for MTHP 2007 there, or in a nearby hotel, that same weekend. I'm thinking we could bring a few coolers, a bunch of munchies, hang out goof off and gab. Maybe we could play some cards or game or bring movies or something (Mad Max - Australian dub, anyone?). We could go out for an actual meal or three. Sneak over to Minicon and steal some "do not disturb" signs and, uh, people watch. Good times!

I'm thinking I might kick in a room or two so people can come and go without committing to a room. I'll ask the hotel to hold a block of rooms for people who want to reserve in advance.

Another suggestion has been made for Waterpark of America/Grand Hotel. I will call around and see what kind of deals are to be had.

Folks, I just make this stuff up. No actual plans have been made. If you have an idea, lemme know and let's make this happen!
